How to decoden a clear phone case
Decoden is decorating a phone case with whipped-cream style cream, cabochons and charms. Here is how to do it on a blank Clear Shell.

What you need
- A blank Clear Shell case for your iPhone model
- Decoden cream (the whipped-cream style silicone sold for decoden) and a piping bag with a tip
- Cabochons, charms or rhinestones
- Tweezers for placing small pieces
- Craft glue, only if you add pieces outside the cream
Steps
Peel both films
Every Clear Shell ships with protective film on the inside and the outside of the acrylic. Peel both before you start; faint lines on a new case are the film, not the case.
Take the case off the phone
Work on the case alone, on a flat surface. The flexible TPU edges make it easy to take off and fit again while you work.
Plan the layout dry
Lay your cabochons and charms on the case before anything is fixed, and move them until you like the design. A photo of the layout helps you rebuild it.
Pipe the cream
Fill the piping bag and pipe the decoden cream onto the acrylic back, working one area at a time so it stays soft.
Press the pieces in
Lift each piece off your layout and press it into the soft cream with tweezers. The cream holds it, so this style needs no extra glue.
Let it cure fully
Leave the case flat until the cream has cured. Cure time depends on the cream and on how thick you piped it, so follow the time on its packaging before you put the case back on.
